Dave Newman, Industrial Hygienist

Dave Newman is NYCOSH’s industrial hygienist. He is responsible for technical issues such as on-site evaluation of environmental and occupational safety and health hazards; exposure assessment; interpretation of sampling results; and recommendations for remedies. Dave coordinated NYCOSH’s World Trade Center Health and Safety Project. He served on the federal Environmental Protection Agency’s World Trade Center Expert Technical Review Panel and on the Exposure Assessment Working Group of the WTC Worker and Volunteer Medical Screening Program. He has authored and co-authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dave came to NYCOSH in 1998 after 27 years as a steward and chief steward for Communications Workers of America. He has an M.A. in Labor Studies and an M.S. in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences.
