This updated forum on ventilation for COVID-19 covers the basic principles of using ventilation for infection control. Both mechanical and natural ventilation systems will be covered, as well as the use of computer simulations and tracer gas diagrams, which make visualizing ventilation issues easier. We’ll provide updates regarding the uses and limitations of unit ventilators, HEPA air purifiers, open windows, air conditioners, UV units (standalone, at the ceiling, and in-duct), bipolar and other ionizers, and many real and bogus air cleaning devices and air sanitizers.
This information is critical to addressing outdated and inadequate ventilation systems in schools and other buildings that continue to put children and workers at risk of infectious diseases.
