New York City construction work is fast paced, complex, and highly regulated. Every day, workers build and maintain the structures that keep the city moving, often in challenging and high-risk environments. NYCOSH’s DOB-Certified Construction Safety School gives workers, unions, and contractors the training they need to meet New York City’s safety requirements, qualify for Site Safety Cards, and return home safely at the end of every shift.

NYCOSH operates a Department of Buildings (DOB) certified Construction Safety School that delivers essential, regulation-compliant training for New York City’s construction workforce.
Our programs meet all DOB requirements and qualify participants for Site Safety Cards, giving workers the knowledge and confidence they need to stay safe, stay employable, and work effectively across job sites in all five boroughs.
Our DOB-certified Site Safety Training curriculum addresses the safety topics required under New York City regulations, including:
We focus on the real-world challenges workers face on New York City job sites, from high-rise buildings and façade work to infrastructure projects in crowded neighborhoods and active streets. Participants learn how to identify and reduce hazards while gaining a clear understanding of their rights and responsibilities under local safety laws.
Our EPA Lead Renovator (RRP) Initial Trainings include the certification required under EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule (40 CFR Part 745) for anyone performing renovation, repair, or painting work that disturbs lead-based paint in most pre-1978 homes and child-occupied facilities.
This 8-hour course, held over one and a half days in Manhattan, prepares participants to work safely on renovation, repair, and painting jobs in pre-1978 buildings, where lead-based paint hazards are common. The training combines classroom instruction with hands-on practice, covering how to:
Trainees will also receive a Know Your Rights training, covering workers’ rights on the job and how to file a complaint if an employer isn’t following lead safety regulations.
Training is led by seasoned safety professionals who combine real job-site experience with clear, practical instruction. They understand tight deadlines, shifting conditions, and communication barriers, and they translate complex regulations into simple steps workers can use right away.
We keep training hands-on and engaging. Through real scenarios, discussions, and interactive exercises, students learn how to:
The goal is straightforward: help every worker build a strong, lasting safety mindset that they carry from project to project.
