NYCOSH Letter to DOB Regarding OSHA Card Arrests

Announcements

NYCOSH is concerned about the NYC Department of Investigation and Department of Buildings going after construction workers with allegedly fake OSHA cards as a strategy to make construction sites safer. We are asking the agencies to reconsider this misguided approach and have asked for a written response by October 30th.

“Employers/contractors have the sole legal responsibility of protecting worker health and safety on the job and they also have the power on the ground to ensure that this happens. While employers are quick to blame workers whenever there is an accident, the city should know better than to buy into this argument, and needs to direct its investigative resources at the responsible party, the contractors.” – Nadia Marín-Molina, Safety & Health Specialist at NYCOSH.

Below is our letter to the DOB.
